AEK Double Winners
League Champions and Cup Winners 2023

With AEK Athens winning the league and cup Double in Greece in 2023, it’s been a memorable year for AEK. The success continued in London, with the AEK Youth teams enjoying another great season, with the U14s winning the Middlesex County Trophy 2023.  The U16s also triumphed by winning the U16s Watford Friendly League Junior League Cup. What a Fantastic year to be associated with AEK around the world.

AEK Youth FC Visit AEK Athens In Greece!

In February 2015, AEK Youth FC committee members/coaches Mario Michael, Costas Avraam and Marino Charalambous were invited to Greece by the professional Super League club AEK Athens FC. It was a fantastic visit where both clubs agreed to have stronger links with each other going forward, including the matches between their youth academy teams, trials for London-based players in Greece & the possibility of a London AEK Athens Development Centre.

The visit to Athens included a tour of the new AEK Academy Centre in Spata, where meetings were held with the Academy Director – Akis Zikos, an AEK superstar who played for AEK Athens and also Monaco FC (playing in the Champions League final vs Porto), Technical Director Michalis Mitrotasios & Stelios Manolas an AEK legend and now U21s coach (450 games for AEK & 70 games for Greece).

Greece U18s vs AEK Athens U18s was also being played on the same day, and the London coaches watched this match & spoke with the Greece coach Kostas Tsanas and watched the training sessions across all AEK Academy age groups. That evening Mario, Costas & Marino were invited as VIPs to the AEK Athens Cup match at the Olympic stadium in Athens. The following day, the coaches also met AEK Athens FC’s CEO and the Academy Network Development Managers who co-ordinate AEK centres across Greece and Cyprus.

Since 2015, AEK Youth FC has remained in regular contact with AEK Athens and continues to have a close relationship.
